Abdul Salim Ahmed Ibrahim PBMDirector
Salim has over 20 years’ experience in civil and criminal litigation. His main areas of practice are insurance law, criminal law, general civil litigation, family law and Syariah law. A passionate proponent and advocate for pro bono and volunteer work, he has served in various positions in legal, political, sports, social, youth, religious and cultural organizations. In late 2010, he was invited by the Honourable, The Attorney-General of Singapore (as he then was), Mr Sundaresh Menon to sit in an ad-hoc Committee on Assisting Persons with Mental Disabilities tasked to make recommendations for reforms in the police investigation process relating to individuals with special needs or mental disabilities. The recommendations put up by the Committee have already been put in place in a private project in April 2012. He also served in an ad-hoc Committee tasked to put up recommendations to review Community Based Sentences.
Effective from 1 December 2011, Salim was appointed by the Honourable the Chief Justice of Singapore, Mr Chan Sek Keong as a member of the Inquiry Panel under The Legal Profession Act. His tenure has been extended for a further period of 2 years by The Honourable The Chief Justice of Singapore, Mr Sundaresh Menon.
Salim is an accredited Associate Mediator of the Subordinate Courts of Singapore and Singapore Mediation Centre (SMC) and has joined SMC’s training arm and panel of assessors. In June 2012, Salim successfully completed the Mediating Disputes Summer Program at Harvard Law School. In 2014, Salim completed a training and accreditation course in Psychology and Mediation and has since been accredited as a Mediator by Regent’s University London.
In August 2013, the SMC conferred an appreciation award for his active involvement as a member of SMC’s Adjunct Faculty for successfully clocking up 200 hours of service to SMC.
Salim has dispensed free legal advice at legal clinic since 1994. In September 2012, he was appointed as a Trustee of the Board of Trustees of Sultan Mosque, a national monument. Salim sits as Chairman of the Player Status Committee of the Football Association of Singapore as well as a member of the Appeals Board. He has also been actively involved since 2007 as a Board Member in the Anti-Doping Singapore. Salim has also served as a Councillor with Aljunied Town Council.
He is currently serving as Vice Chairman of Eunos Inter-Religious & Confidence Circle (IRCC) and Member of Eunos CCC.
For his service to the community, he was conferred the Public Service Medal in the National Day Awards 2013.
